IKEA HACK: BOOKSHELF TURNED BARCART

After Pinterest introduced the new bar cart craze, I’ve been wanting one in my home for the last year. There’s something about having a pretty display of bar accessories and fun drinks that really adds personality to a room and also makes it easier to entertain guests without having to run out to the store. Its also a great way to “upgrade” your apartment when you aren’t able to make any permanent changes. Right when we moved in I was looking for the perfect spot to place my bar cart and after setting up our new dining area, I realized the standard bar cart wouldn’t fill the empty space on the wall I had picked out. I was looking for an unconventional way to display all the pretty glasses, bottles, and serving ware that I’ve been accumulating. I was also looking for something that would stick with the grey and white theme throughout our living room and kitchen. I wanted to use something as a bar/buffet stand and after visiting Ikea for the basics, I immediately knew this was the perfect piece to DIY for the area. I loved how the whole process was super simple too! After turning the bookshelf on its side, I drilled in some legs for added height and pushed it against the wall. I added some flowers, a few housewarming drink gifts, and other eye-catching accessories to brighten up the space. P.S. No, my wine glasses aren’t incredibly dusty, the lighting just makes them look that way for some reason 😉
