As I’m writing this post all I can think about is how excited I am to be flying home to California tomorrow!! After three weeks away I’m ready to be back to the cool weather, less humidity (I’m so not used to that!), family, and friends. I’ve always day dreamed about living somewhere on the East Coast but of course we didn’t stay during the winter;) The more I travel away from California the more I fall in love with the state. While there are so many negative things about living in a state with high taxes, traffic (on traffic on traffic), expensive cost of living, and a lot of other downsides, it’s where I feel I belong and I don’t know if I can ever shake that feeling even if I had to move. With that being said, I still fell in love with Vermont.

Last weekend a friend and I decided to explore Burlington where we stayed for three weeks on a business trip. These pictures don’t even do the beauty that surrounds Vermont justice, but I decided to share some of my Instagram snaps since that was all I had time for. The entire town blew me away! From the fall colored leaves and vastness of Lake Champlain to the quaint shingle style houses and downtown restaurants, there were plenty of things for us to do to entertain ourselves during our stay. These are just a few of the pictures out of the many that I ended up taking. I had to remind myself to be present in the moment because there were simply too many photo opportunities I didn’t want to pass up! We ate such amazing food and luckily had a driver shuttle us around to see the sights.

We spent almost every night exploring the restaurants on Church Street. Some of my favorites were Sweetwaters where I had the best BBQ pulled pork sandwich and The Gryphon, which is a little more upscale that had the best steak and creamy coleslaw.

When I first touched down in Burlington, I didn’t even know there was a huge lake right next to our hotel until a day later. Lake Champlain is so breathtaking and I couldn’t imaging living here and not wanting to invest in a boat to explore the lake and it’s surroundings.

If there was one thing I took away from my trip here it was that there are two things Vermonters LOVE to partake in: indulging in farm raised/ organic meals and drinking beer. Almost every shop has a bakery inside and there are tons of breweries throughout Burlington with some of the “hoppiest” beers I’ve ever tried.

With the exception of some, going to a state school in California doesn’t always mean you’re welcomed into a historical and beautiful campus so I really appreciated stopping by the gorgeous UVM.

This was during a long walk on the sprawling bike path bordering Lake Champlain at sundown. The sunsets are so relaxing cascading over the vast lake (it was HUGE!).

Myer’s Bagels was hands down some of the best bagels I’ve ever tried…homemade of course! I’ve never tried a brie, sriracha, and avocado bagel sandwich, but it was to die for!

Yet another brick house in Vermont. I just can’t get enough of the brick buildings since we hardly have any in California! How cozy can you get!?
