When I started working from home I made it a priority to create a little space of my own that would inspire both creativity and productivity. Since we didn’t know how long we would be living in this apartment, many of the bulkier pieces were brought with me from college for my home office, so I decided to freshen up my little corner by making the focal point an inspiration board filled with wedding ideas, magazine cut outs, quotes, polaroid’s, and cards. There’s something so satisfying about finally having my own “office” after so many years of studying and working propped up either on my bed or a couch. Since I’ve been working on my own for a few months now, I’ve learned a few things along the way that have helped me stay on track and avoid empty lulls in the day. The most important thing for me was to first digitalize my calendar. I don’t know why it took me so long to do this, but ever since I’ve swapped my written planner for iCal, it’s been life changing! No matter where I am I’m always aware of the tasks I’ve set out for that day and never have an excuse but to put my priorities first.
The second thing was to get ready every morning as if I was going into work (minus wearing shoes inside of course;). For a while I would wake up, grab coffee, open my laptop, and sit in my pajamas working well into lunch. While it was still productive, I didn’t feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day when compared to the days where I put on regular clothes and do my hair and makeup. I’m hoping to keep that up when I have our baby, but I’m sure it’s difficult for most new mothers! ModCloth has so many cute work wear pieces like bottoms, tops, and shoes that are perfect for casual work environments and also transition perfectly from day to night. I’m loving this high waisted skirt and billowy blouse, both perfect for fall! I’ve been looking for a new pair of suede booties to wear with skirts, dresses, and jeans when the weather cools down and these were perfect! They are so comfortable that I’m actually taking them with me to Japan for our honeymoon where I currently am! I’d also transition this look from day to night by throwing on a leather jacket and swaping out this tote for a casual clutch. I’m also loving this fall inspired denim dress, this collared white dress, these suede booties, this mini dress, and this burgundy mini skirt. I’ve said it before, but there’s something about ModCloth clothing that always makes me feel most myself. Each piece is so unique and versatile (see my latest post here) and they have so many great fall pieces out right now that it’s making me so excited for the colder weather!

It’s so important to change into work wear when I’m working from home. If I stay in sweats or pajamas, I feel tired and not as good as I do when I dress up. That top looks beautiful and I hope you have a wonderful time in Japan! I loved my short stay in Tokyo. It was amazing!

Oh yes, having your own office and everything in order in one place, makes a world of difference! You’re looking so cute in this outfit and I’m totally in love with your top and booties. Have a great time in Japan with your man, I envy you so much, I would love to visit Japan someday.

Your workspace is so cute! I also love that you put on nice clothes to go to “work”! It’s so much different than laying in bed working on a laptop half the day. I need to try this. 🙂
